Part painting, part found-object sculpture, William Joseph Dunn uses objects rescued from the trash to create three dimensional paintings that comment on more intellectual themes. Dunn chooses discarded artifacts, not only for the textures and imperfections they lend, but because they carry a prior history before he painted on them. While not obvious at first glance, Dunn’s chosen subject matter is usually a comment on the human condition or a political observation portrayed symbolically for the viewer to interpret for themselves.

As usual, besides the film screenings, IndieLisboa runs many other activities. Between 21 and 27 April will happen the Lisbon Talks, wich are divided in different activities: a Seminar, Panels and round tables and Master Classes.

savenetradio.jpgThe future of the internet radio is threatened, radios like pandora.com, or any other streaming service broadcasting is in danger due to a recent decision by the Copyright Royalty Board in Washington, DC, something that can affect negatively our daily life and many broadcasters, radio stations and radio dj’s that bring us new artists and joy every day.

Act NoW!

Hi, it’s Tim from Pandora,

I’m writing today to ask for your help. The survival of Pandora and all of Internet radio is in jeopardy because of a recent decision by the Copyright Royalty Board in Washington, DC to almost triple the licensing fees for Internet radio sites like Pandora. The new royalty rates are irrationally high, more than four times what satellite radio pays and broadcast radio doesn’t pay these at all. Left unchanged, these new royalties will kill every Internet radio site, including Pandora.

In response to these new and unfair fees, we have formed the SaveNetRadio Coalition, a group that includes listeners, artists, labels and webcasters. I hope that you will consider joining us.

Please sign our petition urging your Congressional representative to act to save Internet radio: http://capwiz.com/saveinternetradio/issues/alert/?alertid=9631541

Please feel free to forward this link/email to your friends - the more petitioners we can get, the better.

Understand that we are fully supportive of paying royalties to the artists whose music we play, and have done so since our inception. As a former touring musician myself, I’m no stranger to the challenges facing working musicians. The issue we have with the recent ruling is that it puts the cost of streaming far out of the range of ANY webcaster’s business potential.

I hope you’ll take just a few minutes to sign our petition - it WILL make a difference. As a young industry, we do not have the lobbying power of the RIAA. You, our listeners, are by far our biggest and most influential allies.

As always, and now more than ever, thank you for your support.

100% recuerdos ajenos | 100% other people’s memories

Do you remember destroying, burning or throwing away photos? Sometimes, a graceless gesture, an old fashioned garment or the company of someone we’d like to forget, are reasons enough for deciding to get rid of some photos. The same happens when we find photos of relatives with whom we are no longer sentimentally linked or when the passing of time has erased all reference.

BLU > started out his artistic career following his passion for drawing, public art, particularly unauthorized, illegal art. Coming from the graffiti culture he started developing his art based on a very personal figurative style. His work lives in two stages and two different spaces. It originates from sketches jotted down in sketchbook, which represent a diary as well as an image database to be used in the second stage: the mural. The actual project starts in front of the building, with size and load bearing elements of the wall, in effort to identify an impossible combination between painting and surrounding architecture. He avail himself of the most traditional and essential painting tools : brushes, paint roller, one colour and black; he often use techniques drawn from scenography as well as long sticks, which act as supports when working on large surfaces.

Blu’s travel is being currently documented n a trip by Lorenzo Fonda, an Italian director who’s fan of his work. (see the progress, pics , documentation and info needed at megunica.org.
Can’t wait to see the final result of this on screen!

This was in due to be posted at Fitacola for a long time, I’m always visiting to witness all that every single photo of hers has to amaze.

Sensitive, sexy, poetic, a bucolic poetry to my eyes. Tethereto’s photos are almost always described by her on a way every artistic photos should be. with poetry and imagination. This is a world to dive into and fall in love.

Freedom Wig is a “one-a-day” painting site by Martha Rich.

Welcome to Freedomwig, my one-painting-a-day website. Freedomwig is the name of a real wig. I named the site after a wig because wigs can either make you feel like someone else or make you feel normal. The art on this site is like that.

I make one painting or drawing every day. This was started on November 1, 2006 and will go for at least 1 year. I may miss uploading the art when I travel, but I’ll upload it when I get back.

Freedomwig is geared to promote art collecting. There is so much sameness in the world and art collecting allows you to have something one-of-a-kind and meaningful to you. Since collecting art can be intimidating, this site offers affordable small pieces.
